The 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony will hold in London on October 26, with an international jury of journalists set to determine the winners of the prestigious football awards.
According to the Ballon d’Or website, the jury for the men’s award comprises journalists from the top 100 countries in the FIFA rankings, while representatives from the top 50 nations will vote for the women’s award.
The rankings in effect when the nominees were announced on September 8, 2026, will determine the countries represented on the jury.
Each juror will select 10 players from a 30-man shortlist, ranking them in order of merit. The players will receive points based on their positions, with 15 points awarded to the first choice, followed by 12, 10, eight, seven, five, four, three, two and one point.
The player with the highest overall score will win the award.
In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by the number of first-place votes received. If the tie persists, second-place votes and subsequent rankings will be considered.
The organisers added that any other disputes arising from the voting process would be resolved by the editor-in-chief of France Football, the award’s organiser.
The October 26 ceremony will mark the 70th edition of the Ballon d’Or.
