2026 Ballon d’Or: I have put a bet on him – Platini names player to win award

Daily Post 1 day 1 mins read

Former UEFA president, Michel Platini, has claimed that he bet on Paris Saint-Germain forward, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to win this year’s Ballon d’Or award.

Platini has pointed to Kvaratskhelia winning the Ligue 1 and Champions League as the reason he deserves the prize.

The France football legend snubbed his compatriot, Mbappe who made history at the 2026 World Cup.

Mbappe became the all-time top scorer at the World Cup this summer, after winning the Pichichi with Real Madrid.

But according to The Tribuna, Platini said: “For the Ballon d’Or, I’d put a small bet on the Paris Saint-Germain player, Kvaratskhelia.

“He won the Champions League title with Paris Saint-Germain.”
