The 2026 edition of the Ballon d'Or will be held today (Monday) in London, UK.

Usually, the award ceremony is held in Paris, where the organisers France Football are based.

Last year, Paris Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Dembele was announced as the winner ahead of Barcelona's Lamine Yamal.

It was a much deserved win for Dembele, who won the Ligue 1 title and Champions League trophy with PSG.

This time around however, there is no clear winner.

The leading candidates to win are Harry Kane (England/Bayern Munich), Kylian Mbappe (France/Real Madrid) and Lamine Yamal of Barcelona.

Of this trio, only Mbappe failed to win any silverware during the year under review.

The Frenchman however finished as top scorer in three competitions - LaLiga, Champions League and the World Cup.

Kane ended the season with the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal titles, while also finishing top scorer in Germany.

Yamal won the LaLiga title with Barcelona and the World Cup with Spain.

There have been polls and odds from bookmakers. But on Monday, the winner will be officially announced.

And for the third year in a row, we will have a new name.
