2026 FIFA World Cup: Chelle backs Portugal to win first title

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Super Eagles head coach, Éric Chelle has backed Portugal to emerge champions at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, DAILY POST reports.

Seleção das Quinas will be gunning for their first title in Canada, Mexico, and United States of America.

Portugal, who have an array of talented players in their squad have also been labelled among the favourites to win the title by pundits.

Chelle, whose team will face the former European champions in a friendly tonight, is rooting for Roberto Martinez’s side to conquer the world for the first time.

“This team, in one month, can be the next world champion. This is a big chance for us to play against Portugal in their country,” Chelle told a press conference.

Portugal have been drawn in Group K with DR Congo, Uzbekistan and Colombia.
