2026 U-20 WWC: Colombia captain sets sights on Falconets after Poland win

Colombia captain, Juana Ortegon has said the South Americans are now firmly focused on the clash with Nigeria following their victory over Poland.

Ortegon and her teammates defeated the hosts 1-0 in a keenly contested Round of 16 encounter on Thursday.

The contest was heading for extra time before Poland conceded a late own goal

Mariana Silva crossed the ball across the face of goal and Martyna Bartczark diverted the ball into her net.

Ortegon praised the fighting spirit of her teammates after the game.

“We will play match by match. We are very happy to be in the quarter-finals, so we will think about Nigeria first, but this team will always compete to win.

“Our dream is to win the world title, but we’re going match by match,” Ortegon told FIFA.

Poland will battle Nigeria for a place in the semi-finals on Sunday.
