Falconets captain, Christianah Uzoma has said determination pushed the team through their Round of 16 encounter against England.
Moses Aduku’s side thrashed the Young Lionesses 3-0 to book a spot in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup on Thursday.
Tosin Rafiu, Janet Akekoromowei and Mary Mamudu scored the goals for the West Africans.
Uzoma said the Falconets’ target is to reach the final.
“We hope to get to the final. Our hope is to win the World Cup,” Uzoma told FIFA.
“Our performance was good, and we told ourselves that we were not going to lose this game and that we didn’t want to go home. We came with determination.”
Nigeria will slug it out with Colombia for a place in the semi-finals in Lodz on Sunday.
