Spain dominated the game from start to finish with the Falconets making occasional forays upfront.
Marisa Garcia gave La Rojita the lead in the 13th minute.
The former champions continued their dominance but failed to double their lead before the break.
Nigeria showed strong determination to stay in the game despite pressure from the Spaniards.
Moses Aduku’s side, however, conceded the second goal 17 minutes from time.
Alba Cerrato fired the ball past Christiana Uzoma to seal victory for the former champions.
The Falconets will look to bounce back from the defeat when they face China PR in the second Group F game on Thursday.
Spain will be up against debutants New Caledonia in their next game.
