Elena Rybakina has won the 2026 US Open after producing a stunning victory over Aryna Sabalenka.
She won the title after three sets that ended 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.
The victory completes a remarkable turnaround after doubts over Rybakina’s fitness and years of disappointment at Flushing Meadows.
Rybakina had never progressed beyond the fourth round in New York before this year.
The 27-year-old Kazakh produced a powerful display to claim her second major title of an outstanding 2026 season.
“I was coming here for the last 10 years, and it was never successful. I’m falling in love with New York more and more,” Rybakina said.
For Sabalenka, it was her fifth defeat in nine Grand Slam finals.
