FIFA has officially confirmed that Côte d’Ivoire has the youngest squad in the ongoing 2026 World Cup.
The world football governing body revealed this on its official World Cup X handle on Sunday.
“Introducing Côte d’Ivoire… Youngest squad at the FIFA World Cup 2026” with “Average age: 25.8,” it wrote.
This comes as the Elephants prepare to play Ecuador in their first fixture at the tournament.
Head coach Emerse Fae has built a dynamic team packed with talent from Europe’s top leagues, after the golden era of legends such as Didier Drogba and Yaya Touré,
Fae has also opted to drop several veterans, including 33-year-old forward Wilfried Zaha, who is currently on loan at Charlotte FC from Galatasaray.
