Former Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney, has criticized England manager, Thomas Tuchel after a 2-1 defeat to Argentina at the 2026 World Cup.
The Three Lions were leading 1-0 in the semi-final clash, thanks to Anthony Gordon’s goal, until the last five minutes.
The defending champions scored twice within seven minutes through Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez, to ensure they play Spain in the final.
Rooney, speaking on BBC One, questioned Tuchel’s decision to go defensive after Gordon scored.
He said: “Once we got the first goal, we didn’t look to go for the second goal.
“For the players, and for me, Thomas Tuchel made the decision, and when you make the decision it is a gamble. The gamble he made was to go with five at the back, which allowed them to dictate the game.
“The decisions that Tuchel has made cost us tonight.”
