Algeria became the sixth African country to be eliminated from the 2026 World Cup.
This follows their 2-0 defeat to Switzerland in a Round of 32 clash on Friday.
Breel Embolo and Dan Ndoye scored in each half to send the Desert Foxes out of the tournament.
The victory also ends a World Cup knockout hoodoo for Switzerland, as they secured a first win in the tournament in 88 years.
They will now face either Ghana or Colombia next.
Algeria’s exit means that over half of the 10 African flagbearers have now been sent home, including Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal, Tunisia, South Africa and DR Congo.
Morocco is the only country from the continent in the last 16 as it stands.
