The National Executive Committee, NEC, of the African Alliance Party, AAP, has commended the Court of Appeal, Makurdi Division, for its judgement of 11th June 2026, which ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to register it.
The party hailed the judgement during the meeting held at its national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday.
The party discussed extensively the party's preparation for the 2027 general election, vowing to field credible candidates for the elections.
The Court of Appeal, Makurdi Division, had on the 11th June 2026 ordered the INEC to register the AAP as a political party, and the Supreme Court further struck out INEC's stay of execution paving the way for the registration of the party.
The party called on INEC to expedite action for the formal registration of AAP as ordered by the appellate court as time is of the essence.
It affirmed its readiness to participate in the 2027 general election and enjoined its members across the country to remain calm and focus on the upcoming elections.
The party urged Nigerians to actively participate in the electoral process and vote for candidates of their choice and ensure their votes are counted and reflected in the overall result, and not rely on INEC's IReV.
