We have put forward a proposal.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said the campaign would move to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, after the Kaduna flag-off, before proceeding to Maiduguri, Borno State.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yari added that the full itinerary would be made public after the inauguration, noting that the proposed visits had been approved by the President and the campaign team.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“By God’s grace, on the 24th of October, we’re going to do our flag-off campaign in Kaduna, inshallah,” he said. “Then we outlined our state visits to each and every place where we will go, and then the President has approved them.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the prospects of opposition presidential candidates Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Yari dismissed their chances of defeating Tinubu, arguing that a presidential candidate needed nationwide support to win.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He claimed that Tinubu had the backing of more than 20 states across the country, while challenging the opposition candidates to demonstrate comparable support beyond their respective regions.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“Can the ADC candidate today in the southern part of the country beat his chest and say he has control of one state in the South? And I don’t think Peter Obi, who used to be my colleague, can beat his chest and say he has control of one state in northern Nigeria,” Yari said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He argued that strong support in one region would not be sufficient to secure victory in a presidential election without support from other parts of the country.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yari cited the 2011 presidential election, when the late former President Muhammadu Buhari secured substantial support in northern Nigeria but lost the national contest, to support his argument about the importance of a broad geographical spread.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former governor also defended Tinubu’s record in office, saying the APC would campaign on what it considered the administration’s achievements rather than promises.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“President Bola Tinubu, since the time he assumed office, has turned around the situation that he met on ground; still, the economy is moving,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“So I think we have done enough that we can tell our opponents about what we did.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“We are not promising. Abdulaziz Yari has said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yari, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), disclosed this on Friday while speaking with State House Correspondents after meeting Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said the President had approved the proposed campaign timetable, adding that the campaign would proceed to Rivers State and Maiduguri, Borno, after the Kaduna rally.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, Tinubu will formally inaugurate the APC PCC, appointed a few months ago, on Oct. 14 at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yari said the campaign timetable would be made public after the inauguration of the council.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“I just presented a proposed campaign timetable for state visits to the President, and he has approved it,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“We agreed on how it is going to be done. The inaugural meeting of the PCC will be held on Oct. 14 at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“And, by God’s grace, on Oct. 24, we are going to have our flag-off in Kaduna State.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“We have the timetable, and we are going to make it available after the inauguration,” Yari said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the APC’s chances in the 2027 presidential election, the former Zamfara governor predicted a landslide victory for Tinubu, citing the president’s popularity and the number of states controlled by the ruling party.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yari said the APC controlled more than 10 states in the South and believed it also controlled more than 10 states in the North.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“This is a calculation; it is not rocket science,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yari said Tinubu had changed the situation he inherited since assuming office, adding that the administration’s performance would form part of the party’s campaign message.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“The economy is improving. So, I think we have done enough to tell our opponents what we have achieved.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“We are not promising; we are doing it, and we are going to continue,” he said.
