Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani says the All Progressives Congress (APC) will consider its performance a failure if any opposition candidate secures 25 per cent of the votes in the state during the 2027 general elections.
Sani stated this during an interview with TVC on Sunday, expressing confidence that Kaduna would deliver a higher share of votes for President Bola Tinubu.
“In Kaduna, we are not talking about 70 per cent. Allowing any candidate to even get 25 per cent in Kaduna is a failure on our side because President Tinubu has done for Kaduna something we never dreamt of having,” he said.
He based his confidence on federal government projects and interventions in the state over the past three and a half years, arguing that residents should support Tinubu at the polls in return.
Sani also criticised opposition parties for what he described as an overreliance on social media attacks against the APC rather than direct engagement with voters through rallies and town hall meetings.
He singled out the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), saying he had seen the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) reaching out to voters through town hall meetings.
“If you are campaigning to win elections, you have to go out and meet with the people,” he said.
“The only party that I see reaching out through town hall meetings, other than our party, is probably APM. I’m surprised. I have seen them going round. But you cannot say the same with ADC and NDC.”
The governor also accused opposition parties of using artificial intelligence and manipulated images to attack the ruling party online, arguing that they should focus more on meeting voters.
“We are the only party that is reaching out, talking to the people. So, whether the opposition decides to come together or not, it’s not our business,” he said.
