Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, of being obsessed with the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Yesufu made the allegation in a statement posted on her official X handle on Saturday.
She said the ruling party has now turned to smear campaigns against Obi.
"APC is obsessed with Peter Obi! The way they are all going after him now shows that they have gotten the memo that rigging will not be an option, so they are resorting to smear campaigns," she wrote.
According to her, the pattern of attacks on Obi in recent days shows that the ruling party is worried about his growing support ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Recall that Yesufu had repeatedly argued that Obi's supporters will not allow a repeat of what she described as the rigging of the 2023 election.
The NDC chieftain also stated that they will watch the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, like hawks and show zero trust in the institution overseeing the process.
