The APC Presidential Campaign Council has disclosed that its 2027 campaign will be issue-based and focused on the achievements of the administration rather than attacks on individuals.
The Director-General of the Campaign Council, Senator Abdulazeez Yari, stated this in Gusau shortly after a closed-door meeting with the Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, and traditional leaders in the state on Wednesday.
Yari said Nigeria had passed through several difficult moments that raised concerns about the survival of the country, but Nigerians had continued to demonstrate their commitment to keeping the nation united.
“Nigeria is a wonderful country. We have been seeing so many things which some predicted that Nigeria will not continue as a country, from June 12 to others. This is where we are. Nigerians continue to ensure this country remains a united country,” Yari said.
He said the APC’s 2027 campaign would centre on issues and what the party intends to do if given another opportunity to govern the country.
According to him, President Bola Tinubu is committed to the development of Nigeria and has demonstrated love for the country.
“Tinubu is beyond any other person. He is for Nigerians, and a leader that loves this country without any fear of contradiction,” Yari said.
The former Zamfara State governor said the 2027 campaign would not be about making fresh promises but about highlighting what the APC-led administration had already accomplished.
Yari said his first official engagement as Director-General of the campaign was with traditional leaders because, although they are not politicians, they remain close to the people and play an important role in society.
He described seeking the support and blessings of traditional leaders as important to the success of the campaign.
On his part, Governor Dauda Lawal said the meeting with traditional rulers was organised to formally present Yari, a son of the soil, following his appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
“It is important for us to hand him over to them to seek for their support. This is the reason for the meeting,” Governor Lawal said.
The governor assured the APC presidential campaign council that President Tinubu would receive 100 percent support from the people of Zamfara State in the 2027 election.
