The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has formally announced the commencement of its 2027 presidential campaign, with its presidential candidate, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, set to officially commission the party’s presidential campaign office in Abuja on Monday.
The party said that the national coordinating hub for the Makinde/Daura presidential campaign would oversee the administration of an issue-based, people-driven campaign structured to secure victory for the candidate in the upcoming presidential election.
It stated that the Makinde/Daura campaign would emphasise solutions while presenting Governor Makinde’s policy choices and proven record of governance to voters.
The APM also stated that it enters the presidential race with confidence, humility, and an unwavering commitment to offer Nigerians a credible alternative capable of restoring hope, security, prosperity, and national pride.
The party further noted that since Governor Makinde and Lawan Daura emerged as its presidential and vice-presidential candidates, respectively, it had recorded a massive surge of members and supporters, reflecting public confidence in their records of integrity and public service performance.
The APM added that Makinde’s candidacy brings a combination of competence, youthful energy, administrative experience, and broad public acceptance necessary to build a safer, more prosperous, united, and functional Nigeria.
“In preparation for the campaign, our candidate embarked on extensive consultations with political leaders, stakeholders, and communities across the country,” the statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, read. “These engagements aimed to understand the aspirations and concerns of Nigerians and develop a comprehensive national agenda capable of addressing the country’s most pressing challenges.”
The APM added that it would, in due course, unveil a comprehensive policy blueprint outlining practical and measurable solutions alongside Governor Makinde’s vision for a better-governed nation.
In its assessment of the political landscape, the party noted that the 2027 election gives Nigerians a choice between “renewed hopelessness represented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s failed administration and an agenda aimed at resetting Nigeria to a nation that works under Makinde”.
The party stated that Nigerians will not reward failure with another mandate and will instead use their democratic power to elect a competent, accountable, and responsive leadership under the APM platform.
