Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole has described Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, as a serial loser, saying he is not afraid of him ahead of the 2027 general election.
Oshiomhole stated this on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television's Politics Today, where he said that Atiku had contested for the presidency several times and lost each time, adding that 2027 will not be different.
According to him, Atiku had no record of victory to threaten President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
He said Atiku lost in 2007, 2011, 2019 and 2023, and even left the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to join the African Democratic Congress, ADC, after losing the party's ticket.
"Atiku is a serial loser. I am not afraid of him," Oshiomhole said.
Oshiomhole said the recent court judgment that nullified the David Mark-led leadership of the ADC and voided the process that produced Atiku as the party's presidential candidate for 2027 was further proof that Atiku's ambition is built on a shaky foundation.
He said the APC is not worried about Atiku's move to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, or his reported plan to join forces with Peter Obi.
He said Atiku and Obi contested separately in 2023 and still lost to Tinubu, and joining forces in 2027 will not change the result.
Oshiomhole also dismissed Atiku's promise to restore fuel subsidy if elected, saying the former vice president is only playing to the gallery.
He challenged Atiku to tell Nigerians what he would do differently, asking whether he would cancel the student loan scheme, bring back multiple exchange rates, or return Nigeria to paying fuel subsidy.
He said Tinubu represents a statesman who thinks of the next generation, while Atiku thinks only of the next election.
