Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has said the presidential candidates of the African democratic Congress, ADC, and Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi are free to campaign in his state.
Otti spoke in an interview with Arise Television aired on Friday.
Speaking on his relationship with Obi, the governor said: “Absolutely, anybody that wants to campaign in my state is allowed. Peter Obi and I are not fighting, there is nobody that I’m fighting so if he wants to campaign in my state he would be allowed.
“Any other person – even Atiku – if he wants to campaign he would be allowed because that is what democracy is all about.”
This comes after Obi was prevented from entering Makurdi, the Benue State capital, for a meeting with NDC stakeholders.
Obi was also scheduled to visit some Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in Benue.
