2027: Atiku promises to end insecurity as he arrives Sokoto

Daily Post about 6 hours 1 mins read

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has promised to tackle insecurity, restore hope among Nigerians and reduce the cost of living if elected president in the 2027 general election.

Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, made the pledge on Thursday after arriving in Sokoto State for the official launch of his party's presidential campaign.

In a post on his X account, the former vice-president thanked supporters who came out to welcome him, describing Sokoto as a historic centre of faith, scholarship and leadership.

He said Nigerians were fed up with hunger, insecurity and unfulfilled promises.

Atiku added, “I will end the insecurity that haunts our communities, restore hope to our young people, and make Nigeria affordable again.”

He described the campaign launch in Sokoto as the beginning of efforts to rescue the country, expressing confidence that the ADC would win the 2027 presidential election.

Ahead of his arrival, large crowds gathered in Sokoto to receive the former vice-president.

His visit came a day after he accused the Department of State Services, DSS, of planning to disrupt the ADC's campaign activities in the state.

The DSS later responded to the allegation, saying it was investigating the matter.
