Two-time former federal lawmaker, Sam Onuigbo, has urged Nigerians to consider the country's future direction when making their choices in the 2027 general elections.
Onuigbo said President Bola Tinubu deserves a second term, arguing that the administration's ongoing reforms need continuity to achieve their intended results.
He warned that abandoning the reforms midway could push Nigeria back into economic and social challenges, including exchange rate instability.
Onuigbo, who represented Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, made the remarks while speaking with journalists in Umuahia, Abia State, on Tuesday.
He maintained that the decisions taken by the Tinubu administration since assuming office in 2023 should be considered when Nigerians decide who will lead the country for another four years.
According to him, the administration has introduced reforms in key sectors, including energy, education and finance, which require further attention and consolidation.
He said Nigerians should assess the country's progress, the challenges that remain and the leadership needed to sustain its development as the 2027 elections approach.
“Upon assumption of office in 2023, President Tinubu proceeded with sure and measured steps to embark on much needed reforms, particularly in the energy, educational and financial sectors of the economy.
“As this 2027 election approaches, Nigerians will consider the direction of the country, decisions already taken, progress recorded, the challenges that remain and the courageous leadership they believe can take Nigeria forward," Onuigbo declared.
