There was a mild drama on Saturday in Abia State as a crowd chanted "Obi Obi" while the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, was trying to campaign for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Deputy Speaker had mounted the stage at the Item Okpi Festival in Bende Local Government Area of the state and asked the crowd to vote for President Tinubu.

"Tinubu will do more for Abia. Vote for Tinubu in 2027. He is the best for Nigeria," Kalu said.

According to the footage which has gone viral, as soon as Kalu mentioned Tinubu, the crowd started chanting in solidarity with the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

"Obi! Obi! Obi!" the crowd chanted.

The chanting grew louder when Kalu tried to calm the residents down with some people standing while others raised their hands.

The footage showed that Kalu tried to shout above the crowd but they refused to stop and continued shouting "Obi Obi Obi."
