2027: 'Don't vote and go home, stay until results are uploaded' - Amaechi to Nigerians

Daily Post about 3 hours 2 mins read

The vice presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Rotimi Amaechi, has told Nigerians not to vote and go home during the 2027 general election.

Amaechi spoke on Friday during an interview on News Central TV, where he said voters must stay at their polling units until their votes are counted and the results uploaded.

According to him, that is the only way to protect the vote.

"On the day of election, in your ward and in your unit, you finish voting, you stand for the counting," Amaechi said.

He warned that politicians steal result sheets at the unit level and put the lives of ad hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, at risk in the process.

"If there is a result sheet, we will queue up and when they finish counting, if you don't upload it you are not going," he said.

Amaechi said nobody should leave the polling unit after voting. He said voters should demand to see the result sheet, witness the counting, and insist that the result is uploaded before they leave.

According to Amaechi, the 2027 election will be different because Nigerians have learnt from past elections. He stressed that the ADC is ready to mobilise the party's supporters across the country to defend their votes.
