Daily Post about 5 hours 1 mins read

A former presidential aide, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has warned of dangers ahead, as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Baba-Ahmed warned that violence is becoming a major issue in the run-up to the 2027 elections.

Posting on X, the National Leader of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, said campaigns are threatened by violence.

He wrote: "Violence in many forms is becoming a major issue in the run-up to the 2027 elections.

"Normal campaign activities are being seriously threatened by actual or threatened violence.

"Citizens are being emboldened by failures to rein-in thugs and other violent activities. Danger ahead."

This comes as the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, accused the Department of State Services, DSS, of recruiting protesters to disrupt his party's campaign rally in Sokoto State.

Atiku alleged a coordinated effort to create disorder and obstruct political freedom.
