A governorship aspirant in Ogun State, under the All Progressive Congress, APC, Abayomi Hunye, has held a private meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his claims to the party's ticket.
The meeting, held in Abeokuta, was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Abayomi Hunye Media Team.
According to a statement, the meeting focused on the political situation in Ogun State, the legal dispute involving Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola, and the importance of upholding the rule of law.
The statement said the meeting also provided an opportunity for discussions on leadership, governance, political stability and the future of the state.
It added that Hunye remains committed to pursuing judicial redress through appropriate channels and expressed confidence in the rule of law.
"The engagement with the former President underscores the importance of dialogue with experienced statesmen on matters of leadership, governance, political stability, and the future of Ogun State," the statement said.
The Media Team noted that the matter remains before the court and should be allowed to be determined on its merits.
"As political consultations ahead of 2027 continue, Hunye remains focused on his governorship ambition while seeking judicial redress.
“The legal proceedings remain a matter for the courts to determine. No conclusion should be drawn regarding the outcome until the appropriate judicial pronouncement is made," it added.
