2027: ‘I Am Your Errand Man’, Tinubu Vows To Abide By APC Manifesto, Promises

President Bola Tinubu has pledged to uphold the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s manifesto and honour his commitments to the party as he seeks re-election in 2027.

Tinubu gave the pledge on Wednesday during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Addressing party leaders and members, the president described himself as an “errand man” of the party, pledging to remain committed to its objectives, promises and manifesto.

“To me, I am your errand man. Even for the president, I raise my hand for full commitment that we abide by my promises and the manifestos, the objective, the intention of our party. That’s all I give you,” he said.

Tinubu also praised the party for conducting its congresses and electing leaders at ward, local government, state and national levels, despite predictions that the process would trigger an internal crisis.

He recalled that the party’s 15th National Executive Committee meeting, held on 19 December 2025, ratified the programme for the congresses.

“We conducted it. They said there would be implosion. We passed through it. We did not fail. You did not let us down,” he said.

The president commended members for their participation in the process, saying the party had emerged united and ready for the next electoral contest.

“This council will carry our vision, our record and our agenda to every Nigerian, and it will carry them to every ward of this country. We arrive at this moment strong, united and renewed,” he said.

‘Deliver Your Wards, Votes’

The president urged campaign council members to mobilise support across their respective wards, stressing that their efforts would only count if they translated into electoral victories.

“The APC is ready. We have not gathered merely to inaugurate a council; we have gathered to renew a covenant, a covenant with the Nigerian people and the historic responsibility they have entrusted to us as Nigeria’s governing party. We promise we will not let them down,” he said.

He thanked party members for their support in the previous election but warned that they must deliver votes again in 2027.

“But no one gets credit for an incomplete assignment. So, until you deliver the next election, until you deliver your wards, until you deliver the votes, before we can say thank you,” Mr Tinubu said.

President Tinubu also said he would not allow campaign activities to distract him from his responsibilities as president, noting that the demands of governance would continue throughout the election period.

He said party leaders had advised him against allowing the rigours of campaigning to interfere with his administration’s work, adding that he agreed with their position.

The president added that he would continue to address Nigerians directly while campaign officials coordinate activities across states and local government areas.

“Nigeria needs more attention now than ever before. The responsibility of this office does not pause.

“However, I will still make time to speak directly with Nigerians even as you lead the campaign in the states and local government areas, so you will excuse me from going everywhere with you,” he said.

Tinubu, who won the 2023 presidential election on the APC platform, is seeking a second term in the 2027 general election.
