2027: I will withdraw as Atiku’s running mate, back Tinubu if petrol drops to N600 per litre

Daily Post about 1 hour 2 mins read

The Vice Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Rotimi Amaechi, has vowed to withdraw from the ticket of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, if the price of petrol drops to N600 per litre by tomorrow.

Amaechi made the statement on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Friday while challenging the Federal Government’s claim that the cost of transportation and living expenses would decline following the reduction in fuel prices.

He questioned whether transportation costs from Nyanya to Abuja had reduced as promised, insisting that Nigerians were yet to feel the impact of the policies.

“Every day he repeats the same thing. He said by October 1, the price of transport would come down. Check the cost of transport from Nyanya to Abuja; has anything come down? Has anything changed?” he said.

He added that if petrol sells for N600 per litre, he would campaign for President Bola Tinubu.

“If fuel has come down to N600 tomorrow, I will campaign for President Tinubu. If you doubt, come with your camera to my house in the morning. I will go to the filling station and buy fuel,” he said.

Amaechi further stated that he would withdraw as Atiku’s running mate and support Tinubu if the price of petrol reaches N600 per litre.

“If it comes down to N600, I, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, will withdraw as the Vice Presidential candidate of Atiku and campaign for President Tinubu,” he added.
