2027: I won't disappoint Nigerians no matter what it takes - Makinde vows

Daily Post about 4 hours 2 mins read

The Allied Peoples Movement, APM, presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday vowed never to disappoint Nigerians if elected President, no matter what it takes.

The Oyo State governor made the vow during the unveiling of the APM's Reset Nigeria manifesto in Abuja.

Makinde said, "Nigerians are proud of long speeches but today we want to have a conversation, we want to say that these things, we didn't just bring them up on our own, they are things that we went round, had town hall meetings across all the geo-political zones of Nigeria.

"When you listen to the people asking what will you like to say? Which kind of Nigeria are you thinking about? And the outcome of that consultation is the Reset Agenda. I remember that it might be somewhere in the North-East, somebody asked me can you be the Tafawa Balewa, Awolowo, or Azikiwe of our time?

"At that moment, listening to the passion with which the question was asked and the expectation, I felt that no matter what it will take we must not disappoint Nigerians.

"It seems as if we are running a relay race, our founding fathers started the race just like the vice presidential candidate mentioned but somewhere along the line, somebody within the first lap will give them the baton but I think that we dropped the baton somewhere along the line. So we now need to return to rebuild the Nigeria that our founding fathers envisioned."
