2027: I’ll bring fuel price to N300/litre – Donald Duke

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, Donald Duke, has vowed to bring the price of fuel to about N300 per litre if elected President in 2027.

Duke made the pledge on Wednesday while fielding questions in an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief.

He was speaking on his plans for the economy and his expectations for the 2027 election. According to him, reducing the cost of fuel would be one of the measures he would pursue because of the role the commodity plays in Nigeria’s economy.

When asked what he considered a realistic price for petrol under his administration, Duke responded: “Try and bring it to about N300.”

According to him, the availability and affordability of fuel were important to the productivity of Nigerians and the wider economy.

The former Cross River State governor stated that the government should create conditions that allow citizens to work, move goods and services and carry out their businesses without excessive pressure from energy costs.

“I’ve said several times that the function of government is to ensure the productivity of their citizens within a safe and orderly environment. Fuel drives your economy. It should be available. It should be affordable,” he said.
