The Allied Peoples Movement, APM, presidential running mate, Lawal Daura, on Wednesday declared that he is not a politician but plays politics.
Daura disclosed that he will become a politician when the definition of politics changes in Nigeria.
Speaking during the unveiling of the APM's reset manifesto in Abuja, the former Director General of the Department of State Services, DSS, said young Nigerians now lie and deceive people under the guise of being a politician.
According to Daura: "I'm playing politics but I'm not a politician, I will accept to be a politician the day when the definition of a politician in Nigeria changes, this is because I have seen even younger people, when they lie, it's politics; when they deceive they say it's politics, when they commit crime they claim it's politics; and if that is what they define as politics, definitely I'm not a politician but I play politics."
He also faulted those in government trying to use their privileged position to oppress the opposition.
Daura added: "I would like to say that whenever people are trying to use their privileged position to muscle the opposition, I think that they are enjoying themselves because quality opposition is what determines the attempt to bring down the political temperature when it's high.
"And where there is no opposition, no qualitative opposition there is a problem because whenever the political temperature is high, there is nothing that can bring it down."
