LAGOS: The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has commenced its campaign for the 2027 governorship and House of Assembly elections, with the party rallying members and supporters around its “Mandate Must Continue” agenda.
The State Chairman of the party, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, formally declared the campaign open on Tuesday, charging party leaders and members to intensify grassroots mobilisation across the state’s 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas.
Ojelabi said the campaign would focus on continuity, consolidation and further progress, while highlighting the APC administration’s record and its plans for the state.
“We enter this campaign with confidence, a well-established grassroots structure and a clear understanding of the importance of these elections to the continued development of the state,” he said.
According to him, the election offers Lagos residents an opportunity to sustain what he described as the state’s current trajectory of development.
The APC chairman also acknowledged the political legacy of President Bola Tinubu, saying his leadership and progressive political tradition had played a significant role in the evolution of Lagos politics and governance.
On the party’s mobilisation strategy, Ojelabi said the APC would take its campaign to communities, wards, traditional institutions, professional groups, women and youth organisations, market associations and other stakeholders.
“From Alimosho to Epe, Badagry to Ikorodu, and Lagos Island to Ikeja, our mobilisation machinery will be fully activated to ensure that our message reaches every segment of Lagos,” he said.
He urged party leaders and members to close ranks and intensify their grassroots activities, stressing that the APC was seeking victory rather than merely participating in the elections.
“We are not campaigning merely to participate. We are campaigning to win and continue the work of building a stronger and more prosperous Lagos,” Ojelabi said.
He called for unity and discipline among party members, saying every ward, community and vote would be important in determining the outcome of the elections.
Ojelabi also assured that the campaign would be issue-driven and focused on the aspirations of Lagos residents, while respecting democratic values and electoral laws.
“The objective is clear: to mobilize the people, earn their confidence and deliver victory for the progressive political family at the polls,” he said.
Reiterating the party’s position, Ojelabi declared: “The work must continue. The gains must be protected. The mandate must be renewed.”
He urged Lagos residents who support continuity, stability and what he described as progressive governance to join the APC and support its candidates in the 2027 elections.
