LikeMinds Volunteers for Tinubu, also known as CityBoy LikeMinds Volunteers, has said it remains committed to the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The group declared that its nationwide mobilisation programme would continue irrespective of the outcome of its proposed collaboration with the CityBoy Movement.
This followed an announcement by the leadership of the CityBoy Movement, Ogun State Chapter, that it had no affiliation with CityBoy LikeMinds.
The General Secretary of the CityBoy Movement, Ogun State Chapter, Adeyemi Ajasa, had said the organisation was not affiliated with CityBoy LikeMinds.
Reacting to the development, the Director General of CityBoy LikeMinds, Temidayo Babalola, however, said the group was prepared to execute its mobilisation mandate independently through its existing structures, volunteers and technology-driven grassroots strategy.
Babalola said members remain committed to working with every genuine support group, political organisation and grassroots structure across Nigeria whose objective is to ensure the electoral success of President Tinubu and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to him, the organisation currently has strategic structures in 35 states and a network of over one million direct and indirect volunteers and officers and a network of over one million direct and indirect volunteers and officers.
The statement reads: For the avoidance of doubt, our engagement with the CityBoy Movement was initiated in good faith and through formal channels. Representatives of LikeMinds Volunteers led by the National Coordinator, Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade Triple-A met with the Director General of the CityBoy Movement National Headquarters, Francis Tosin Shoga, the Deputy DG Coordinator, Favour Abayomi, Director of Media and other members of the management team to explore areas of collaboration for the collective success of President Bola Tinubu.
“In the interest of transparency, we wish to place on record that a formal letter proposing collaboration was submitted to the National Headquarters of the CityBoy Movement and acknowledged. During the engagement, it was suggested that the CityBoy Movement Headquarters could serve as the venue for the official unveiling of the CityBoy LikeMinds Volunteers App. Subsequent discussions also included assurances that data collated across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory would be made available to enhance coordinated grassroots mobilisation in pursuit of our shared objective.
“It is equally important to state that LikeMinds Volunteers had followed the recognised process for registering as a support group in Ogun State through the designated registration channel provided by the CityBoy Movement structure, and thereafter took the additional step of approaching the National Headquarters to pursue the proper process of collaboration. In view of these steps taken in good faith, it is unfortunate that the Ogun State Chapter of the CityBoy Movement subsequently issued a disclaimer stating that it is not associated with LikeMinds Volunteers.
“Our mission remains clearly defined through the LikeMinds Volunteers ONE-OF-TEN Initiative, which is designed to mobilise 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the principle of one committed volunteer mobilising at least ten eligible voters within his or her community and polling-unit environment. This is a structured grassroots strategy designed to convert volunteer participation into measurable electoral support.
“The leadership of LikeMinds Volunteers comprises experienced political stakeholders, including former members of the National Assembly and grassroots leaders with networks extending across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas. Our focus is to identify, engage and mobilise eligible voters while strengthening community-level participation in support of President Tinubu and APC candidates.
“Our commitment to President Bola Tinubu is not dependent on any single organisation. While we remain open to collaboration with the CityBoy Movement or any other genuine support group, we are fully prepared to execute our mobilisation mandate independently through our existing structures, volunteers and technology-driven grassroots strategy.”
