Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has inaugurated more than 600 members of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Campaign Council in Kebbi State.
While inaugurating the council, Malami urged members to work together to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures ahead of the forthcoming elections.
He said the council was established to coordinate the party’s campaign across the state and support all ADC candidates.
“This Campaign Council represents our collective ADC campaign. It is not about one candidate or one elective position. From the governorship to the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly, we must work as one political family,” he said.
Malami urged party leaders and supporters to avoid tribalism, sectionalism and internal rivalry, warning that such divisions could affect the party’s electoral prospects.
He also called for reconciliation and dialogue in resolving disagreements within the party.
The former minister urged members of the campaign council to mobilise supporters and take the party’s message to local governments, wards and communities across the state.
He further charged the council to ensure that the ADC campaign remained peaceful, lawful and issue-based, while discouraging hate speech, ethnic provocation and personal attacks against political opponents.
Malami said the campaign council should regard its appointments as a responsibility to serve rather than a reward, urging members to work collectively towards the party’s success in the elections.
