A couple of the leading parties have raised their Presidential Campaign Councils, PCCs, most are yet to do so.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As it is, exactly 97 days to the Presidential and NASS polls, and 118 days to the governorship and state assembly balloting, no party or candidate has unveiled his\u002Fher or its campaign plan and itinerary.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlike previous election cycles, when streets would, at this stage, be awash with posters and billboards and candidates would be criss-crossing their constituencies, in an unmistakable poster war, the current political atmosphere is relatively subdued.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, the scenario is different as Saturday Vanguard’s checks across the country show. Only a handful of leading parties have constituted campaign councils, while many candidates are concentrating on consultations, grassroots mobilisation, party structures and legal battles.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But where campaigns have begun, another battle is emerging — the struggle for billboards and other public advertising spaces, with allegations of removal, destruction, intimidation and partisan use of regulatory powers.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch4 id=\"h-apc-crisis-stalls-poster-war-in-ondo\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">APC crisis stalls poster war in Ondo\u003C\u002Fh4>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Political activities remain low in Ondo State, with only a few APC candidates displaying posters at strategic locations.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlike previous election seasons, there is no poster war, as candidates of opposition parties are largely absent from the streets.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Investigations showed that only a handful of opposition candidates have pasted posters, while many are yet to print theirs.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The development has been linked largely to the crisis within the APC, where several aspirants who lost the party’s primaries have gone to court to challenge the outcome.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even among incumbent National Assembly members who secured return tickets, only a few have printed and displayed campaign posters.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The uncertainty surrounding candidacies has therefore slowed political activities.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The APC National Working Committee had dropped some aspirants after the primaries, triggering fresh crisis and litigation, which have combined to prevent the usual billboard and poster war.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, billboards bearing the image of APC presidential candidate, Senator Bola Tinubu, are prominent across major towns and roads, while only a few posters of ADC presidential candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, are visible.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another factor is that there will be no governorship election in Ondo in 2027. The state will vote in the presidential, National Assembly and State Assembly elections.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch4 id=\"h-tinubu-dominates-ekiti\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tinubu dominates Ekiti\u003C\u002Fh4>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The situation is similar in Ekiti, where the campaign landscape remains markedly different from the intense poster and billboard competition normally associated with elections.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tinubu’s posters and billboards are prominent across several locations, while the presence of opposition parties, particularly ADC and NDC, remains subdued.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A major political development is the decision of Dr Wole Oluyede, who contested the June 20, 2026 governorship election on the PDP platform, to support Tinubu’s re-election.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oluyede has established the Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda, OPARHA, to mobilise support for Tinubu across the state’s 16 local government areas and 177 wards.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At a mobilisation rally in Ado-Ekiti, Oluyede and Governor Biodun Oyebanji jointly canvassed support for Tinubu and pledged to work for at least 90 per cent of the President’s votes in Ekiti.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For now, the physical campaign landscape is heavily tilted towards Tinubu and the APC.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch4 id=\"h-osun-no-defacing-of-posters\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Osun: No defacing of posters\u003C\u002Fh4>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Osun presents a different picture.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Campaign posters and banners are being displayed competitively without the widespread defacing that characterised the August governorship election.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Different parties have mounted campaign materials at public places without reports of widespread destruction.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The development contrasts sharply with the recent governorship election, which witnessed extensive destruction of posters and billboards belonging to major political parties.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch4 id=\"h-billboard-war-opposition-cries-foul-in-lagos\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Billboard war, opposition cries foul in Lagos\u003C\u002Fh4>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Lagos, political activities are taking place amid heightened tension, early mobilisation and strict regulation of public advertising space.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The governorship contest involving the APC, ADC and PDP is attracting more attention than the Senate, House of Representatives and State Assembly contests, which remain relatively subdued.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">APC governorship candidate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, and his running mate, Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, have established a strong presence, alongside President Tinubu.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Billboards bearing the images of Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and Hamzat are prominent in Ikeja, Alausa, the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Obalende and around the Third Mainland Bridge. The posters, which began appearing in August, are also visible around Agege, Alimosho and other areas.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By contrast, billboards of ADC presidential candidate and his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, as well as NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, are yet to achieve comparable visibility.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The opposition has alleged harassment and removal of its campaign materials.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NDC supporters accused the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency, LASAA, of removing more than 50 banners belonging to Peter Obi and House of Representatives candidate, Dr Adefolaseye Adebomi, in Surulere while leaving APC materials intact.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NDC chieftain, Aisha Yesufu, condemned the alleged action, describing it as the behaviour of a party that is “scared, desperate, and crumbling rather than one in control.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She also criticised the high cost of billboard advertising, alleging that fees running into hundreds of millions of naira were being imposed in some areas.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lagos State Government had yet to respond to the allegation at the time of filing this report.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch4 id=\"h-campaign-materials-under-attack-in-ogun\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Campaign materials under attack in Ogun\u003C\u002Fh4>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Political activities are gathering momentum in Ogun, with the PDP formally commencing its governorship campaign and the ruling APC intensifying mobilisation across the three senatorial districts.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But posters, banners and billboards mounted in public spaces are increasingly being vandalised.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some campaign materials have been torn down, defaced or damaged, with different parties and candidates reportedly affected.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The development has raised concerns as the parties intensify grassroots engagement and public messaging ahead of the elections.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The growing appearance of campaign materials on major roads and in communities has already transformed parts of the state into political battlegrounds, even though the full campaign season is yet to peak.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch4 id=\"h-battle-for-visibility-moves-to-billboards-in-oyo\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Battle for visibility moves to billboards in Oyo\u003C\u002Fh4>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Oyo State, the struggle for political visibility is gradually moving to the streets, particularly billboards and posters.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Across Ibadan and other areas, campaign materials of prominent contenders have begun appearing at strategic locations, although the state is yet to witness a full-scale poster war.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Controversy erupted in July when the ADC alleged that a billboard belonging to its governorship candidate, Olooye Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke, at Idi-Ape Junction, Ibadan, was removed and replaced with materials bearing the images of Governor Seyi Makinde and APM governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adegoke said: “My money is still running on that billboard till 20th August 2026.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The APM denied responsibility, attributing billboard disputes to advertising agencies and regulatory authorities.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The APC later raised similar allegations, claiming that some of its billboards for governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, were being removed or destroyed.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">APM again denied involvement, saying: “We do not destroy opponents’ materials, we do not sponsor thuggery, and we do not engage in violence.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For now, Oyo’s contest is still at the early stage of the battle for public attention, with candidates also relying on radio, television, social media, rallies and consultations.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Ch4 id=\"h-candidates-stake-claims-in-delta\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Candidates stake claims in Delta\u003C\u002Fh4>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Campaign activities in Delta are yet to fully take off, but the political atmosphere is warming up as aspirants intensify consultations with party leaders, traditional rulers, community leaders and supporters.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Posters and billboards belonging to candidates are becoming increasingly visible in Asaba and other major towns, but the development has not translated into a full-blown poster war.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Political actors are adopting a cautious approach, seeking to establish visibility while strengthening party structures and grassroots networks.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For many candidates, consultations and mobilisation are currently more important than committing huge resources to full-scale advertising.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The gradual appearance of posters and billboards, however, indicates that the 2027 contest is entering the public consciousness.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Complaints of billboard destruction rein in Edo\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Political activities are picking up across Edo’s three senatorial districts, with junctions and public spaces increasingly competing for campaign posters and banners.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The APC has inaugurated its campaign council, while Governor Monday Okpebholo, his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, and party leaders have commenced mobilisation visits to the state’s 18 local government areas.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The NDC is also campaigning but has complained about attacks on its posters.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The party’s candidate for Akoko-Edo II State Constituency, Paul Alaba Lawani, said the NDC was prepared to defeat the incumbent through its grassroots strength.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other active campaign groups include the Chief Thomas Attah Movement, backing Dr Thomas Attah’s House of Representatives ambition in Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency, and the Abbaas Naasamu campaign team of the ADC.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the campaign has already recorded an allegation of political violence.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Suspected political thugs allegedly attacked the campaign office of NDC candidate for Oredo Federal Constituency, Hon Frank Uyi Omosigho, in Benin City.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several campaign materials at the Stadium Road office were pulled down and damaged.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Omosigho said youths alerted him to the attack and urged young people not to allow politicians to use them to perpetrate violence.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“My appeal to youths is not to allow politicians to use them to perpetrate violence or other illegal acts. Anyone caught violating the law would face the consequences,” he said. He added: “The campaign materials were meant to introduce candidates and political parties to the electorate. The voters had the right to make their choices independently.”The incident was reported to the police, while the Commissioner of Police and Department of State Services, DSS, were also informed.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another NDC candidate, St Moses Eromosele, has similarly complained that his billboards were being pulled down and accused the APC.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the elections drawing closer, the subdued campaign atmosphere across the eight states may soon give way to the familiar frenzy of rallies, posters, billboards and political mobilisation.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For now, however, the battle is being fought largely behind the scenes — in party meetings, courtrooms, consultations and the increasingly contested public spaces where candidates seek to make their first impressions on voters.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp The career of Yusuf Suleiman suggests a rarer combination: a man of distinguished birth who has, across more than three decades, earned his standing through service, and who now assumes fresh responsibility at a decisive moment in the nation’s politics.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>His appointment as Deputy Director-General (Administration) in charge of Administration, Finance and Accounts, General Services, Logistics, Protocol, Special Duties and Medical of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council has drawn considerable attention among political stakeholders, who regard the role as one demanding experience, organisational discipline and an intimate understanding of Nigeria’s political terrain.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Hon. Yusuf Suleiman, the Dan Amar Sokoto is a public administrator, technocrat, politician and businessman whose career spans the civil service, federal ministerial office, political organisation and private enterprise.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Born on 30 January 1963 in Gusau, then part of the old Sokoto State and today the capital of Zamfara State, he is a native of Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State and a great-great-grandson of Shehu Usman dan Fodio, the eminent Islamic reformer and founder of the Sokoto Caliphate.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and has completed executive programmes at Harvard University, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>His public service began in Sokoto State in 1986, where he rose to become State Director of Industries. He went on to serve at both state and federal levels, including as Director, Administration and Personnel, of the National Maritime Authority, today the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Ministerial Office\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>In 2010, under the administration of then-Acting President Goodluck Jonathan, he was appointed Minister of Transportation. Amupitan […]\n2027: INEC’s plan to introduce AI in electoral process sparks reactions","\u003Cimg width=\"1170\" height=\"585\" src=\"https:\u002F\u002Fdailypost.ng\u002Fwp-content\u002Fuploads\u002F2021\u002F07\u002Finec.png\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"display: block; margin: auto; margin-bottom: 5px;max-width: 100%;\" link_thumbnail=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\u002F\u002Fdailypost.ng\u002Fwp-content\u002Fuploads\u002F2021\u002F07\u002Finec.png 1170w, https:\u002F\u002Fdailypost.ng\u002Fwp-content\u002Fuploads\u002F2021\u002F07\u002Finec-300x150.png 300w, https:\u002F\u002Fdailypost.ng\u002Fwp-content\u002Fuploads\u002F2021\u002F07\u002Finec-1024x512.png 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1170px) 100vw, 1170px\" \u002F>\n\u003Cp>The announcement on Tuesday by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Joash Amupitan that the electoral umpire has established a dedicated Artificial Intelligence (AI) Division and commenced integrating its tools into its election results verification and cybersecurity systems ahead of the 2027 general elections has not gone down well with some Nigerians, particularly opposition members.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Amupitan made the disclosure in Abuja at a world press conference and national stakeholders’ meeting organised to mark 100 days to the first ballot of the 2027 elections.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He disclosed that automated AI auditing tools were being integrated into the Commission’s results verification process under a five-pillar AI Governance Framework, with mandatory human oversight.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He added that INEC was finalising a policy to guide the deployment of the technology.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He noted that the Commission was also integrating AI-driven anomaly detection tools to monitor database traffic and protect its public portals against cyber intrusions and unauthorised alterations.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The INEC boss, however, warned that the growing use of generative AI, voice cloning and deepfake videos posed a serious threat to the integrity of the electoral process.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Generative AI, voice cloning and deepfake videos now make it cheap to fabricate the voices of election officials, doctored result sheets and fake letterheads and to spread them faster than they can be verified,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He, therefore, urged the media to establish fact-checking desks and verify election-related information with INEC before publication.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“In national elections, it is far more important to be right than to be first,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>However, there are concerns in some quarters about the timing and rationale behind the introduction of the technology.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Some have questioned why INEC would introduce a process that Amupitan himself admitted could be easily faked in an election as important as the 2027 polls.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Those advancing this argument believe that the INEC chairman has not disclosed the true intention behind the plan to introduce AI into the electoral process, especially when it is clear that results and even the voices of INEC officials could easily be cloned.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Reacting to the development, the Obidient Movement outrightly rejected the initiative, demanding that the technology be excluded from results collation and that every result remain independently verifiable.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The movement, in a statement by its Media and Communications Directorate, described INEC’s proposal as “reckless and unacceptable,” citing the Commission’s disclosure that its AI governance policy was still being finalised.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“INEC cannot tell Nigerians that it intends to introduce AI into one of the most sensitive stages of the electoral process while simultaneously admitting that the rules governing its use are still being developed.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Nigerians are not guinea pigs for another untested electoral experiment. We reject the use of AI in results collation and demand that INEC immediately abandon the plan,” it said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The movement argued that INEC should prioritise restoring public confidence following what it described as the credibility crisis surrounding the 2023 elections.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Citing alleged alterations to and defacement of result sheets, it maintained that the problems witnessed in 2023 were not caused by a lack of technology and called for greater transparency and accountability.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>It demanded a system in which results could be traced from polling units through every stage of collation to the final declaration and independently verified by political parties, observers, journalists and citizens.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The movement also questioned Amupitan’s warning against announcing or declaring results that had not been released by INEC.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>It argued that while the Commission had the statutory authority to declare official results, such warnings, coming at a time when INEC was simultaneously pushing an unfinished AI framework, raised serious questions about what the Commission was trying to control and why.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>It called for a clear, transparent and independently auditable framework for every technology to be deployed in the elections, alongside the publication of Forms EC8A, EC8B, EC8C, EC8D and EC8E on the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“The votes of Nigerians belong to Nigerians. No algorithm, server, software, official or political party has the right to alter the wishes of the people,” the movement said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>In the same vein, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Senator David Mark, has also kicked against the plan.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>In a statement issued by the Office of the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mark said the party would comply with electoral rules but would not accept rigging or allow itself to be rigged out.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He issued the party’s warning during a courtesy visit by the Governing Council of the Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development to the party’s headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He said the party would abide by INEC’s rules and its Orange Book, which encapsulates its principles.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“We are committed to playing politics in a manner that promotes public confidence in democracy. But we will not accept rigging or allow ourselves to be rigged out,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The council, led by former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, said the visit formed part of the centre’s ongoing engagements with political parties and leaders ahead of the elections.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Ariwoola reaffirmed the centre’s commitment to free, fair and credible elections and urged the ADC leadership to encourage its candidates and members to comply with INEC’s rules and eschew political violence.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Also, a businessman and concerned Nigerian, Rowland Osazuwa, warned INEC against playing any kind of trick in the 2027 elections.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>According to him, Nigerians are going through a lot and want to take their destiny into their own hands in 2027.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“So, any attempt by INEC to play any kind of monkey trick will be resisted. What is INEC trying to tell us? That a process which is prone to cloning is what it wants to introduce for the 2027 election, or what?\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Look, these people still don’t understand the situation in Nigeria today. We are suffering like never before, and we want to use the 2027 election to ameliorate our suffering.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“If INEC knows that AI is prone to cloning, why is it bent on introducing it? Who is pushing INEC to introduce such a dangerous process into the 2027 election?\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Nigerians are not smiling, and INEC should know that. Anything that will bring about free, fair and credible polls is what Nigerians are yearning for, not something that will call the integrity of the process into question.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“The same INEC told us that the process was still being finalised, and this is barely three months before the election. So, when is INEC going to test the process to determine its functionality, or does INEC want to use Nigerians as guinea pigs?\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Well, all I know is that everybody, from INEC to political leaders at different levels, should be very careful because the 2027 election won’t be like the elections we have had in the past. The 2027 election would determine whether Nigeria will remain one or not. So, if INEC loves Nigeria, it should drop the idea and focus on processes that would guarantee free, fair and credible polls,” he stated.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>For an estate agent, My Gilmor Uwandu, the idea is a ploy to rig the election.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He questioned INEC’s knowledge of AI, saying:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“What does INEC know about AI? Why introduce something you have already admitted is prone to faking and cloning?\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Why even introduce something that has not been tested anywhere just a few months before the 2027 election? INEC has ulterior motives; it wants to rig the election for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“But that will not work. Nigerians don’t want anything that will tamper with the integrity of the election.
