President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has charged Dr Betta Edu, Director of Women Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, members of the Women’s Directorate, all APC Women and other campaign leaders to intensify grassroots engagement and mobilise women across the country to secure victory for the party in the 2027 general election.
The President gave the charge on Wednesday afternoon at the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he acknowledged the invaluable contributions of Nigerian women to the nation’s political development and expressed confidence in their capacity to play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the forthcoming election.
Tinubu commended women for their longstanding commitment to the APC and their contributions to the party’s electoral successes, noting that their organisational abilities, numerical strength and influence within families and communities make them indispensable to the party’s re-election project. “ Women are the greatest mobilizers”
He urged members of the campaign council, particularly the Women Mobilisation Directorate under Dr Edu, to translate the enthusiasm and support of women into a well-coordinated nationwide campaign capable of delivering electoral victory for the APC.

The President’s charge places the women’s mobilisation structure at the centre of the party’s strategy for securing a renewed mandate for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, with particular emphasis on reaching voters at the grassroots, strengthening existing political networks and sustaining direct engagement with communities across the federation.
For Dr Edu and her team, the task is to consolidate the support of women in markets, rural communities, professional associations, cooperatives, faith-based organisations and other social networks, while ensuring that the administration’s policies and programmes are communicated effectively to prospective voters.
The Women Mobilisation Directorate has already established an ambitious target of securing 40 million women’s votes for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket through an expansive mobilisation framework covering 176,846 communities, as well as structures across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The strategy is designed to take the campaign beyond major rallies and political gatherings by strengthening ward-level organisation, household engagement, community outreach, and polling-unit mobilisation.
Tinubu’s recognition of women’s contributions also reinforces the importance of their participation beyond election periods. Women remain central to household economic management, community development, small businesses, agriculture, education, and social welfare, giving them considerable influence in shaping public opinion and political choices.
The President’s charge is therefore expected to galvanise APC women leaders and grassroots organisers into a more coordinated effort to present the administration’s record, explain its policies and engage citizens on the issues that matter to their daily lives.
The mobilisation drive is also expected to build on the activities of First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, whose engagement with women and support for empowerment initiatives have featured prominently in the campaign’s preparations.
At the October 5 pre-inaugural Women’s Summit and Empowerment Programme in Abuja, the First Lady brought together women stakeholders from across the country, while the programme featured the distribution of livelihood-support items, including motorbikes and farm trucks, to beneficiaries.
The gathering also underscored the campaign’s determination to connect political mobilisation with women’s economic participation.
Dr Edu has consistently expressed confidence in the ability of APC women to secure victory for the President in 2027. She has called for unity, discipline, and sustained grassroots engagement, arguing that the party’s women must work as a coordinated network rather than rely solely on high-profile campaign events.

The inauguration of the Presidential Campaign Council formally advances the APC’s preparations for the next general election, bringing the party’s political structures and mobilisation machinery into sharper focus.
With the President’s marching orders now placing renewed emphasis on women’s electoral contribution, the responsibility before Edu and other campaign officials is to turn political enthusiasm into measurable grassroots participation and votes.
For the APC, the 2027 contest will require more than endorsements and public declarations. It will demand sustained contact with voters, credible communication of government policies, and an organisational structure capable of reaching communities across the country.
Tinubu’s message to the women’s mobilisation team is clear in its political implication: women must not merely participate in the campaign; they must be organised, empowered and strategically positioned to help deliver the party’s electoral objective.
