2027: Tinubu will win again, says Betta Edu

The Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Betta Edu, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will win re-election in the 2027 presidential election.

Edu also commended the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for convening the APC Women Stakeholders’ Mobilisation and Empowerment Campaign Roll-Out and supporting initiatives aimed at mobilising and empowering women across the country.

She spoke on Monday at the 2026 Pre-Inaugural Women’s Summit and Empowerment Programme held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.

The programme, convened by the First Lady, was held under the theme, “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity — One Voice, One Movement, One Choice, One Mandate 2027.”

The event was attended by the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima; Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari; Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma; former APC National Chairman, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje; members of the PCC Women Mobilisation Directorate; and women stakeholders from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Support groups and civil society organisations also participated in the programme.

During the event, Edu led participants in a chant in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid, after which she declared that the President would remain in office until 2031.

She said APC women were already mobilising across the country to secure what she described as a strong mandate for Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima in 2027.

According to Edu, the women’s mobilisation campaign is targeting 40 million votes, with structures being activated across the 36 states, the FCT, 774 local government areas, wards, communities and polling units.

She said the mobilisation was not limited to campaign rallies but was designed to establish a grassroots network through which women leaders could engage communities and communicate the policies and programmes of the administration.

Edu said the initiative would also focus on opportunities for women in enterprise, agriculture, skills development, governance and community development.

“We are moving into the 2027 electoral season with purpose, structure, and determination. Our target is 40 million women’s votes, and we are building the organisation required to achieve it. President Tinubu will win again,” she said.

She urged APC women to remain united and organised ahead of the election, reiterating the campaign’s mobilisation slogan: “40 Million Women Votes! One Coordinated Mobilisation! One Voice, One Movement, One Mandate for 2027.”

The programme also featured the empowerment of women beneficiaries with support items intended to strengthen their livelihoods.

The First Lady presented some of the items, including motorbikes and farm trucks, to beneficiaries.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu also held a closed-door meeting with female APC candidates and other dignitaries on the sidelines of the programme.
