AKURE — Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Sunshine Grassroots Network, SGN, has inaugurated a 270-member advocacy team to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State.
The team comprises a 27-member state executive, a five-man committee in each of the 18 local government areas and 10 members across the 203 political wards and voting units in the state.
Speaking at the inauguration, SGN Director-General, Hon. Dayo Awude, said the group was established to address doubts among some voters about the performance of the Tinubu administration in Ondo State and across the country.
Awude said the advocacy team would engage voters at the grassroots, particularly at ward and polling-unit levels, to highlight what he described as the achievements of the administration.
He listed four major road projects as among the Federal Government’s interventions in the state: the Akure-Ikere road, Ondo-Ore road, Owo-Benin dualisation project and the coastal road passing through Ondo South Senatorial District.
He also cited the removal of fuel subsidy, saying it had increased revenue accruing to states.
According to him, Ondo State received N28 billion as federal allocation in June 2026, which he said was significantly higher than allocations received before the removal of the subsidy.
“Food prices have also reduced drastically, making it possible for many families to afford staples like rice and beans,” he said.
“There is also a reduction in school dropouts because of the student loan made available through NELFUND.”
Awude charged members of the newly inaugurated team to focus on mobilisation, reconciliation and expanding the President’s support base ahead of the election.
“Every tendency within the APC that can bring votes should be accommodated. Every genuine Tinubu supporter should be encouraged,” he said.
He added: “To mobilise the people of Ondo State for the overwhelming re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the election of APC candidates into the National and State Assemblies is our mandate.
“For the avoidance of doubt, we are equally committed to the election of our National Assembly candidates across the three Senatorial Districts.”
Awude said SGN was ready to work with all genuine supporters of Tinubu and APC candidates, urging the electorate in the state to support the party in the 2027 elections.
