*Senator charges council on economic hardship

The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari, has assured the nation that the ruling party would fulfill all the campaign promises made to Nigerians.
Yari gave the assurance yesterday when he arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
His arrival in the nation’s capital marked his official assumption of duties following his appointment as the Director-General of APC campaign council by President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking to journalists, Yari said the ruling party would keep its promises.
He noted: “I want to assure Nigerians that whatever promise we make during campaign, we shall keep to our promises. Today, we have seen him as president and by God’s grace, he shall be the president come 2027.”
Addressing the crowd of supporters who converged on the airport reception area, the former Zanfara governor expressed gratitude for the reception, attributing their presence to a shared national vision and spiritual support for the administration.
“The crowd are here to pray for me and for the success of Mr. President. Our party is synonymous with keeping to our words. We pray that Almighty Allah will give him the wisdom to lead this country.
“We assure Nigerians that we shall fulfill all our campaign promises. We pray that our party will continue to be the party to lead the country after President Tinubu’s second term.”
Kano APC Senator Charges Yari Campaign Council on Economic Hardship
The Senator representing Kano South Senatorial District, Suleiman Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, has urged the Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, and members of the council to make Nigerians’ economic hardship, grassroots engagement and internal party unity central to the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s campaign for the 2027 elections.
Sumaila, who is also the APC senatorial candidate for Kano South and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Downstream Petroleum Sector, said the party’s quest for victory would depend largely on its ability to reconnect with citizens.
He also stressed the need to address their concerns and heal internal divisions ahead of the elections.
In a goodwill message congratulating Yari on his appointment as Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council, the senator cautioned that the APC could not afford to be disconnected from the realities confronting ordinary Nigerians as it prepares to campaign for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other candidates contesting on the party’s platform.
“As an APC Senatorial candidate running on the same ballot and alongside the President, representing the 16 local government areas of Kano South, I recognise the magnitude of the task before us,” Sumaila said.
He urged the campaign council to approach the electorate with “deep empathy, active listening and genuine sensitivity” to the economic and socio-economic challenges confronting families across the country.
According to him, the APC campaign must demonstrate that the party understood the difficulties faced by Nigerians and was genuinely committed to delivering meaningful relief.
Sumaila also identified the reconnection of the party with its grassroots as a critical priority, warning that a widening gap between political leaders and the electorate could create misperceptions capable of undermining both the President and the party.
“A disconnect between leadership and the electorate creates misperceptions and misunderstandings that ultimately undermine both the President and the party,” he said.
The senator further charged the campaign council to ensure that all campaign activities complied strictly with the Electoral Act and the Constitution, arguing that electoral legitimacy and public confidence were essential to the success of the party.
