Banyana Banyana captain, Refiloe Jane has declared the team’s readiness for the crucial clash against the Super Falcons of Nigeria.
South Africa and Nigeria were knocked out of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in the quarter-finals, missing out on automatic qualification places for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Banyana Banyana lost 2-1 to hosts Morocco, while the Super Falcons were defeated 1-0 by the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.
The two African rivals will look to secure a place at the inter-confederation playoffs when they clash at the Moulay Rachid Stadium, Casablanca on Thursday night.
Jane declared that they would leave everything on the field to achieve their objective.
“It will be a crucial match for the team, we came here with an objective to qualify for the World Cup. We would have liked to qualify the first time, but things didn’t go our way,” Jane told a press conference in Casablanca.
“We keep our heads up high, we have another opportunity to do so, so our focus is on the next match, to try and give it our all to continue on this journey,” she said.
The highly anticipated encounter will kick-off at 9pm Nigerian time.
