He added that the ADC candidate had previously sought the APC ticket for Zamfara North senatorial district but was not cleared by the party’s screening committee before defecting to the ADC.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement also rejected claims linking Yari to eight suspended members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly who recently resigned from the APC.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“It has become necessary to state categorically that the eight suspended members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly are not political allies of Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari,” Shinkafi said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lawmakers were suspended on February 26, 2024, over allegations including gross misconduct, contempt of the House and holding an unauthorised sitting. The Assembly also accused them of forceful entry into legislative offices and destruction of public property.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shinkafi said five of the eight lawmakers were elected on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform in 2023, while three won their seats on the APC platform.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dispute continued after Governor Dauda Lawal defected from the PDP to the APC in March 2026. The suspended lawmakers had petitioned the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions over their prolonged suspension and the withholding of their salaries and allowances.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Shinkafi, Yari provided financial assistance to the affected lawmakers and continued efforts to broker peace, despite Restoring peace must be the foundation for rebuilding our communities, supporting our farmers and reviving economic activities,” Shinkafi said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The governorship candidate also expressed sympathy for residents whose properties were reportedly demolished by the state government without compensation, promising to address their grievances if elected.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said the concerns of affected residents required attention, pledging to pursue measures to address their complaints under an ADC-led administration.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shinkafi also expressed concern over the reported dismissal of thousands of workers by the state government, noting the potential impact on affected employees and their families.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He promised to address the concerns of the workers if elected, describing their welfare as an issue that any responsible administration must take seriously.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“Governance should not be about exercising power without regard for the people.
