Restoring peace must be the foundation for rebuilding our communities, supporting our farmers and reviving economic activities,” Shinkafi said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The governorship candidate also expressed sympathy for residents whose properties were reportedly demolished by the state government without compensation, promising to address their grievances if elected.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said the concerns of affected residents required attention, pledging to pursue measures to address their complaints under an ADC-led administration.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shinkafi also expressed concern over the reported dismissal of thousands of workers by the state government, noting the potential impact on affected employees and their families.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He promised to address the concerns of the workers if elected, describing their welfare as an issue that any responsible administration must take seriously.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“Governance should not be about exercising power without regard for the people. Ikenga had attributed the relative peace in Rivers State to recent reconciliation efforts among political actors associated with […]\nInvestigate Rainbow Coalition’s comments on gunshots in Rivers – ADC to DSS, Police","\u003Cimg width=\"882\" height=\"529\" src=\"https:\u002F\u002Fdailypost.ng\u002Fwp-content\u002Fuploads\u002F2026\u002F06\u002FADC.jpg\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"display: block; margin: auto; margin-bottom: 5px;max-width: 100%;\" link_thumbnail=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\u002F\u002Fdailypost.ng\u002Fwp-content\u002Fuploads\u002F2026\u002F06\u002FADC.jpg 882w, https:\u002F\u002Fdailypost.ng\u002Fwp-content\u002Fuploads\u002F2026\u002F06\u002FADC-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\u002F\u002Fdailypost.ng\u002Fwp-content\u002Fuploads\u002F2026\u002F06\u002FADC-590x354.jpg 590w, https:\u002F\u002Fdailypost.ng\u002Fwp-content\u002Fuploads\u002F2026\u002F06\u002FADC-400x240.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 882px) 100vw, 882px\" \u002F>\n\u003Cp>The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has expressed concern over remarks by the spokesperson of the Rainbow Coalition, Chibuike Ikenga, regarding the reduction in political tensions, street fights and gunshots in the state.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Ikenga had attributed the relative peace in Rivers State to recent reconciliation efforts among political actors associated with the Rainbow Coalition, a multi-party political group championed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Ikenga, who is also the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State made the remark on Thursday while appearing on Arise Television.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Reacting in a statement issued on Friday, the Rivers ADC, through its Publicity Secretary, Chizy Enyi, demanded clarification on Ikenga’s comments.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>According to the opposition party, “if political reconciliation has indeed brought an end to shootings and violent confrontations, Rivers people deserve to know who was responsible for those incidents, what circumstances gave rise to them, and whether the appropriate security agencies investigated and brought the perpetrators to justice.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Political reconciliation must never become a substitute for criminal accountability.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“The ADC recalls the incidents of intimidation, disruption of political gatherings and attacks involving opposition political activities in Rivers State. \u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“These incidents have raised legitimate concerns about the safety of citizens and their freedom to participate in the democratic process.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“We are particularly concerned that political peace is increasingly being presented as the achievement or benevolence of particular political interests.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Peace in Rivers State is not a political favour to be granted or withdrawn at the convenience of any individual, faction or coalition.
