The 2026/27 UEFA Champions League will provide another opportunity for Nigerian players to showcase their talents on Europe’s biggest club stage.
Several Super Eagles stars are expected to be involved in the competition, representing clubs from some of Europe’s top leagues.
Here are six (6) Nigerians to watch:
Victor Osimhen — Galatasaray
Victor Osimhen remains the biggest Nigerian name heading into the new Champions League campaign. The prolific striker will lead Galatasaray’s attack as the Turkish champions return to Europe’s elite competition.
With his pace, physicality and eye for goal, Osimhen will be one of the Nigerian players attracting the most attention throughout the campaign.
Ademola Lookman — Atlético Madrid
The Super Eagles forward is one of Nigeria’s biggest stars heading into the new Champions League season. Lookman joined Atlético Madrid from Atalanta and will bring his pace, creativity and goalscoring ability to Diego Simeone’s side. He has already featured for Atlético this season and is expected to play an important role in their European campaign.
Samuel Chukwueze — AC Milan
Samuel Chukwueze is set for another Champions League campaign with Italian giants AC Milan.
The winger’s pace and ability to take on defenders could make him an important attacking option for the Rossoneri as they compete against Europe’s best clubs.
Zaidu Sanusi — FC Porto
Zaidu Sanusi will represent Portuguese giants FC Porto in the Champions League.
The left-back has previous Champions League experience and will be looking to establish himself as a key defensive option for Porto during their European campaign.
Christian Nwachukwu — Sabah FK
Christian Nwachukwu is one of the less established names on the list but could be one of the most exciting players to watch.
The Nigerian winger plays for Azerbaijan’s Sabah FK and has already made an impact in their Champions League journey. His inclusion gives him a chance to announce himself on one of football’s biggest stages.
Moses Usor — LASK Linz
Moses Usor completes the list of Nigerian players to watch.
The forward plays for Austrian side LASK and brings attacking pace and versatility to the team. His Champions League involvement will give the Nigerian another chance to gain valuable experience against Europe’s top opposition.
