The former mayor of Kolda, Abdoulaye Bibi Baldé, has just announced the creation of his party, RTES (Rally for the Ecosystemic Transformation of Senegal), in the capital of the Fouladou region.
He made this announcement during an information meeting dedicated to the administrative process of creating the party, held for his activists and supporters on Saturday, 5th September. According to him, their new party will focus on the economy in a “balanced” way, while not being “anti-establishment.” He further explained that his long absence from the political scene was due to the establishment of their new party.
According to him, “we have observed that the social fabric has deteriorated, revealing a country divided along neighbourhood, city, and ethnic lines, among other things.” To this must be added the insults directed at the various religious communities. It is based on all these observations that we created the party to unite Senegalese people around what is essential.”
In the same vein, he maintains: “We will work for the socio-economic transformation of Senegal. Furthermore, I want to clarify that we are not anti-system, as we simply want to transform it, prioritising a balanced economy. Thus, we will focus on the economy, good governance, institutional reforms, social issues, and regional development.”
Along the same lines, he explained: “After I suspended my activities within the APR, the people of Kolda thought we had abandoned politics, but we were simply busy building the party.”
