Abducted NYSC members: Don’t let kidnappers kill our children – Parents beg Olubadan, Oyo CP

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

Parents of the prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, who were recently kidnapped have appealed to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that their children are released unhurt.
The parents made the appeal when they visited the traditional ruler at his residence in Ibadan on Saturday.

DAILY POST gathered that about 19 prospective NYSC members were kidnapped in the early hours of Thursday.

It was learnt that the victims left Ibadan on Wednesday and were heading to NYSC camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom States.

The victims’ parents on Saturday besieged the Olubadan’s residence and appealed to him to speak to the relevant stakeholders in order to ensure the release of their children unhurt.

Our correspondent reports that the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Abimbola Olugbenga, and the Aseyin of Iseyinland, Oba Sefiu Adeyeri, were at the residence of the Olubadan at the time.

The parents used the opportunity to appeal to the Olubadan, the CP and the Aseyin to intervene.

The parents sought the timely intervention of the Olubadan of Ibadanland and the state CP.

The parents submitted that the gunmen contacted them using the mobile lines of the kidnapped prospective corps members.

One of the parents, Alhaja Alimot Akande, appealed to the Olubadan, the CP and the Aseyin to come to their rescue by ensuring the timely release of their children.

“They are threatening that anything untoward will happen to our children if we fail to heed their request. Baba, kindly assist us. Don’t let them kill our children.”
