Abia government moves to rescue abducted school pupils

Abia State government says it is doing everything to rescue the two school pupils that were reportedly abducted by a Tricycle operator in Umuosu Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North LGA of the State, last week.

The Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti on Security, Navy Commander McDonald Ubah (Rtd) made this known  on Monday at Government House Umuahia while briefing Journalists about the outcome of this week’s executive council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.

Commander Ubah, who said that the State government is spreading its contact across security network in neighboring states in the efforts to rescue the kids, said that the abduction was a suspected child trafficking case.

While presenting the State government’s rescue efforts, the Special Adviser cautioned Abia parents against being negligent about the whereabouts of their children.

Also, Abia State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu who was reacting to questions about the oil pipeline explosion in Owaza community, said that relief materials have been provided for the affected villagers to reduce their sufferings.

Kanu, who said that State government’s Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Commissioner for Environment have visited the oil explosion and spill sites, said the state government would ensure that no such  explosion would be recorded in oil producing communities again.

The commissioner for Information further said that Abia State government awarded contracts for various roads in different parts of the State.
