Popular Nigerian pastor, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has sparked conversations with a strong statement about tithing and its significance in the Christian faith.
According to the cleric, Adam’s sin in the Garden of Eden was not eating an apple or committing adultery, but touching what belongs to God.
“Adam was sent out of Eden for touching the tithe. Adam didn’t eat apple. Adam didn’t commit adultery. Adam touched the tithe which belongs to God. Because Adam touched the tithe, God said to him, ‘Please get out of here,’” Pastor Ibiyeomie stated.
His remarks have drawn attention to the subject of tithing, a topic that continues to generate discussions among Christians, with different interpretations of biblical teachings on giving and stewardship.
While some believers may agree with his emphasis on honouring God with their resources, others may question the biblical interpretation behind the statement.
