Adamawa Assembly passes bill to regulate landlord-tenant relationship

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

The Adamawa State House of Assembly has passed a bill outlining the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants.

In essence, the bill provides mechanisms for resolving disputes between landlords and tenants and seeks to protect both parties against unfair treatment.

Tagged the Tenancy and Recovery of Premises Bill, it was passed after the House adopted the report of its Committee on Housing and Urban Development, presented by the committee chairman and member representing Ganye Constituency, Misa Musa.

The bill establishes a legal framework to regulate landlord-tenant relationships, tenancy agreements, and the recovery of premises, aimed primarily at protecting the rights of both landlords and tenants while reducing disputes between them.

After the passage of the bill, the Speaker, Bathiya Wesley, directed the Clerk of the House to prepare a clean copy for transmission to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for his consideration and anticipated assent into law.
