Adamawa: Police go after vehicles with unregistered, concealed number plates

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

The Adamawa State Police Command has launched a statewide operation against vehicles operating without registration number plates, as well as those using concealed, altered, or defaced plate numbers.

According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the move follows a directive from the Inspector General of Police, aimed at improving security and curbing criminal activities carried out with improperly identified vehicles.

To ensure compliance, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, has established a special task force led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Abubakar Haruna. The team has been mandated to monitor compliance and enforce the directive across the state.

The police expressed concern over the growing number of unregistered vehicles on the roads, noting that such vehicles are often exploited by criminal elements to evade detection and commit crimes.

The task force has been authorised to stop, inspect, and take legal action against any vehicle found operating without valid registration plates or with tampered registration details.

Offending vehicles may be impounded and subjected to legal procedures in line with existing laws.

The command urged motorists and vehicle owners to comply with registration requirements and traffic regulations, warning that the enforcement exercise will be carried out without exception.
