…directs police to arrest defiants

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed that all activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, across the state should be stopped with immediate effect.
This followed the factional crisis that has engulfed the union since Monday, disrupting business activities and heightening insecurity across the state.
The governor, in a statement issued by the commissioner for information and public enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, said the decision was reached after the State Security Council meeting on Thursday.
The governor disclosed that collection of levies across all motor parks in the state should stop, among other union activities.
He further directed the police and other security agents to arrest anybody that is parading himself as an official/executive of the union in any of our parks.
“I hereby direct the police and other security agents to stop all activities of the union in all our parks across the state. I am not saying you should close the parks, but you should not allow anyone to operate in the parks in the name of the union in our parks.
“Anyone found contravening this order should be arrested for possible prosecution for disturbance of public peace.”
The governor also directed the immediate establishment of the Rapid Response squad, which will consist of all the security agents in the state that will ensure compliance with the directive.
