Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has signed the Osun State Park Management Bill into law.
The legislation provides a legal framework for the management of motor parks across the state and is expected to support efforts to modernise the transport system.
Adeleke signed the bill on Monday at the Government House in Osogbo following its passage by the Osun State House of Assembly.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the governor commended the House of Assembly for what he described as its proactive approach to addressing challenges in the transport sector.
“I applaud the House Speaker and members of the House for always acting in the best interest of the state,” the governor said.
Adeleke said he had reviewed the bill as passed by the Assembly and was convinced that it would address longstanding challenges affecting the management of transportation parks in Osun.
“Having signed this bill into law, I assure all stakeholders that implementation will commence in earnest,” he said.
The governor added that his administration would ensure that the interests of residents and other stakeholders were accommodated under the new law to promote efficient service delivery across the state.
Earlier, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, said the legislature followed its standing rules in processing and finalising the passage of the bill.
Egbedun said the new legislation addressed issues that had generated concerns among residents and would contribute to the development of the state’s transport sector.
He added that the law included sustainable transport practices, assuring the governor and residents that it addressed major concerns surrounding park management in Osun.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi; Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye; Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina; members of the State Executive Council and other senior government officials.
